Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends was founded in 2002 by two friends who were brought together by a concern for homeless pets. Since 2002, AARF has grown steadily. The AARF board members and volunteers devote their time and energy toward achieving our mission of ending pet overpopulation. The AARF rescue and adoption program started with only a few foster homes and only 5-6 animals in the program to now a network of over 20 foster homes with the ability to accommodate 20-25 pets.

The AARF team realized soon after the launch of the organization that rescue and adoption is only one strategy in the fight against animal homelessness. As a result, AARF strives to be a community resource for pet owners. We subsidize spay/neuter costs through Casper's Fund, educate the next generation of pet owners through our Kids N Kritters Program, provide companionship for the mature pet lovers in our community through our Silver Paws Program, and spread information through our Not One More Campaign and our presence in the communities we serve.

AARF is licensed by the the Georgia Department of Agriculture, and is designated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization by the IRS.

Recently, AARF launched a campaign to allow us
to better serve pets and people and to meet the
growing demands of our community. We have
named our new endeavor 'AARF Pet Central'.

On September 10, 2010 AARF became officially
under contract for a 4,000 sq. ft. facility near
the historic district of Stone Mountain.

Our AARF Central Campaign aims to raise
funds to renovate our new building at
6570 James B Rivers Drive.

The building will be a pet supply retail store
and resource center, house a small group
of kittens and cats for adoption and be a central
location to run and expand our vital community
programs. Along with local trainers, we will also
be holding dog training classes and will also
have an in-house pet grooming shop and self
dog wash tubs.

We hope you will join us in our mission to
create a world where every pet matters!
We can't do it without you!
