Mei (which means "plum" for her purple sheen) is a 4- to 5-year-old goofy and sweet pit bull. She was picked up as a stray in Cherokee County, but clearly "belonged" to someone at some point. She joined the AARF family on what was to be her last day at the shelter. We have no doubt that she has had several litters of puppies and her teeth are worn down, likely from chewing on a chain. After bringing Mei into the AARF program we discovered she has heartworms. But even after everything she has been through, Mei, (pronounced "May"), is a very sweet and funny dog. On her first visit to the vet, she was playing on the floor with the vet tech, giving hugs to anyone who would hug her back. She has captured the hearts of everybody who has met her.

Mei has started her heartworm treatment with the folks at Lifeline Animal Project, and is now ready to start meeting potential forever families. She would do best in a home with no small pets (cats, small dogs, gerbils, etc.) as she seems to have a pretty strong prey drive. We aren't sure how she would do in a home with other dogs her size, but we think with the right environment, she could do well in a home with other dogs. She definitely needs a family with some bully breed experience and someone who wants a smart dog. Mei would excel in obedience training. She's already learning a lot from the folks at Lifeline while she's there. Check out the video of Mei playing "Hide and Seek" with one of her caretakers at Lifeline. Don't you agree that this girl deserves the very best?
