Many friends of AARF follow the journeys of our foster critters, from rescue through rehabilitation and eventually to a adoption in a new forever home. We are often asked about former AARF pets, so we have created this page to give our friends and visitors an update on some of our pets who are now in loving homes. If you are interested in reading about a specific previous AARF foster pet, please email us, and we'll try to add an update.

Duncan

Duncan and his two sisters were born to a beautiful stray momma in the spring of 2002. Duncan's momma found a safe place to give birth -- in the playhouse of his eventual foster family. Delia and her babies moved inside to the foster family's house, where he stayed with his momma until he was ready to move to a new home. Duncan was a very sweet baby, and we knew he would do well in a home with another cat to play with.

When Duncan was almost 3 months old, his new momma Danielle brought him home. He was a little shy at first, and much smaller than his big brother Merv. But within just a few days, Duncan and Merv were best buddies, chasing each other around the house and then curling up together to take proverbial cat naps. Duncan is now almost as big as his brother, and is a very happy boy. He loves to play, loves to snuggle and loves looking out the window at those winged invaders into his yard. Duncan is grownin' up loved!

Ellie

Ellie, her sister, and two brothers were all born to a momma whose owners didn't realize the implications of having an unspayed dog. They called us, hoping we could take the puppies. We did, and helped them spay momma. All four of the puppies were big furry, roly-poly babies when they came to us. And they each had very different personalities. Ellie was always a very thoughtful baby, not to eager to run head first into life, but wait just a minute and make sure all was clear. She loved to be held and petted, and gave the best baby kisses.

Ellie is a now a member of a loving family, with her 2 people and her feline buddy. She loves to play in the backyard and run around with her neighbor pups. But Ellie's favorite thing in the whole world -- water! She absolutely loves to swim. And she has also learned to ride in a kayak and a boat. She goes on the water several times a month, and is quite a sea-loving dog. Ellie is growin' up loved!

Wendy

Wendy (aka Mitzy) was adopted by Claudia and Edgar on March 6, 2003. Wendy has a wonderful second chance at living a life that she was meant to have. The first 6 years of her life was spent producing puppies for her owner to sell. Then Mitzy was retired from her puppymill duties and she has a new Mom and Dad that will spoil her rotten. Wendy's new human sister has a dog named Tara, Poodle/Shih Tzu mix that will teach Wendy how to play with toys and have dog type fun. Coming from a puppymill, Wendy never learned how to do these things. Her new grandmother also has a dog, a Yorkie, that will come and visit Wendy from time to time. This crown jewel found her new palace and has servants to answer her every need. What more could a little Princess ask for?

Gillespie

Hi, I'm Gillespie, but my new people ("big guy" & "snuggily girl") call me Gil, Gilly, Gilgamesh, and lots of other silly things. Here I am with my new brother, who I call "small fuzzy kitty" but my people call Loki. They say he is appropriately named after the Norse god of chaos & mischief. I just think he's fun to play with. (Please notice that I am actually the one who is holding the string. Small fuzzy kitty is just trying to get in on my publicity shot - he's crazy like that.)

Carter (now Beau)

Beau is such a wonderful dog!  He insists on going for walks every afternoon (should help me loose a couple of pounds) and sleeps on the floor by our bed at night.  He's become quite a "watchdog" and barks when someone comes to the door.  They have no idea that he just wants to lick their face off.  We adopted a kitten from Jasper County animal control and she thinks Beau is her mom.  It's so cute to see the two of them together.  Beau gets along with Titus (our other cat) but mainly wants to play with him.  Here are some pictures of Beau  & Sadie.
Thanks for helping us find the perfect dog for our family
